Heartstrings | Sýndesmos

This work traces the entangled bonds between body, memory, and lineage. The two-headed goat embodies duality and multiplicity - the self alongside inherited histories - while red threads spill from its chest into a twisted abstract heart, mapping connection, loss, and attachment. Through materiality and sensation, the piece evokes the visceral, often tangled experience of grief, inheritance, and emotional continuity across generations. It is a reflection on the ties that persist, the threads we carry, and the invisible bonds that shape our being.

Dedicated to my father, Stylianos, this work holds the space where loss and connection continue to meet.

Σε κρατώ στην καρδιά μου, με κάθε κόκκινη κλωστή που μας ενώνει - για πάντα μαζί μου

I hold you in my heart, with every red thread that binds us - forever with me.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Thank you to the wonderful team at Eutopia Art Residency and Theodorou Art Studio who allowed me to come into their studio and taught me so much about ceramics.

Maro, Zozo and Efi are so incredibly welcoming and generous with their sharing of knowledge and culture - it truly was one of the most fulfilling artist residencies I have had the pleasure of being a part of.
